Packaged gluten-free snacks are often full of sugar and might not be so friendly on the wallet. Therefore, why not try some of the nutritious and tasty snack ideas below to keep your wallet and tummy happy?
Smoothies are Healthy
Making smoothies might get a bit messy, but it’s a fast and nutritious snack or even a meal replacement. If you don’t have a food processor or a blender, don’t worry since a stick blender or magic bullet will do just fine.
Simply whizz up ½ a banana, a small handful of berries or other favourite fruits and ½ a cup of liquid (milk or water).
You can add ¼ cup unsweetened yoghurt or pop it in the freezer to make it thicker. How about adding ½ cup of spinach for a green smoothie?
Make perfect popping popcorn
There are different ways of making popcorn. Why not make it straight off the cob? Popcorn kernels are naturally gluten-free and pretty easy to pick up from your local supermarket.
To make great stovetop popcorn simply heat 2 Tbsp of oil in a medium pot over a medium-high heat. Add ⅓ cup of kernels and cover with a lid. Shake frequently until the popping stops.
Seasoning is up to you! You could keep it sweet with some cinnamon or spice it up with some cayenne pepper.
Fluffy banana pancakes (with eggs)
This is such a life hack and hopefully you’ll love it as much as we do. All you need is 1 egg and 1 medium-sized ripe banana. Mash the banana and whisk in the egg until well combined.
Heat 1 Tsp of coconut oil in a pan on medium heat. Pour batter into the pan and cook for 4 min and then flip, cooking for another 2 min. Thaw some frozen berries to have on top for an easy breakfast, snack or dessert.
